JAMES ALEXANDER - SINCLAIR has been designing gardens for ages.

After a mildly feckless youth he began as a landscape contractor - getting by mostly on bluff and endeavour - in London before moving to Northamptonshire to build a house in 1992. Since then he has designed gardens, both large and small, all over the place from the South of France to the Western Isles. He has designed show gardens at both the Chelsea Flower Show and the Westonbirt International Festival of the Garden.

In his spare time he has written articles for many publications. His first, and only, book 101 Bold and Brilliant Flowers was published in March 2008. His Blackpitts Blog has won the Garden Media Guild 'Blog of the Year' Award twice. He also writes Blogs for Crocus, Gardeners World and Fine Gardening in the U.S.A. James has recently started up, intoGardens – a thing of extraordinary beauty which is the first iPad magazine app about gardens. It is published quarterly and is for sale in the App store now.
