When it became evident that our cat would keep birds from visiting our birdbath, it was time to “pretty it up.” A $3 yard-sale bowling ball was the perfect solution. I placed it in the middle of the birdbath and filled in around it with cuttings from my garden. It makes a great focal point to view from my kitchen-sink window. The cuttings have even taken root, so I can pot them up to share or plant them back into the garden. Throughout the growing season, I highlight different plants for an ongoing display.
