"I have cultivated a small, 8 1/2’ X 10’ psychedelic garden and bird sanctuary that is about as special and unique as they come. It’s named ‘The Groucho Marx Bird Sanctuary and Psychedelic Desert Botanical Garden of Peace. I’m a photographer/musican/writer in my golden years. I am near 67 and retired. I’m an old hippie, Marine Corps Vet, rock and roll singer, stand-up comedian and I spend most of my free time on my little patio playing guitar and puttering around. Have a peaceful day.

    How interesting. Great photos too.

Wow that certainly brightened up my day, Dennis! 'Stone the crows' (Aussie lingo, Dennis), 67 is too young to be considered 'in your golden years' - especially for a guitar playing comedian who loves his psychedelic garden and its fauna. Great photography.

You made me look that one up, Frank. Have a great day?

      1. frankgreenhalgh 11/16/2016

Just 'giving it a burl' now and then to keep you on your toes, Kev. Cheers

Sounds like you are getting to live life on your own terms...colorful garden...colorful personality. Your photos are a delight and so is the name of your garden.

You need to add to that name "and pollinators". Love all of it.

Oh, is that a type of cuckoo bird? Peace to you and THANK YOU for your service to our amazing country. Your garden is beautiful - a reflection of your soul, I'm sure.

Hi Dennis, I like your description of yourself! I am 64, went through the hippie stage of organic gardening, food coop, married a guy with hair down to the middle of his back and marched on Washington a few times. Sure it's nice to be young but I love the historic period I've lived through and the music! Really neat photos. What type of camera equipment are you using? I would like to take the close up shots too since I have a rich insect population in my garden. Who are some of your favorite comedians? I am a fan of George Carlin.

Hey Dennis! Thank you for the beautiful photos. I echo Kathy Starr in thanking you for your service to our country. Can you tell us where you are from and what zone you garden in? Unless, of course, you are in a witness protection program!

Love your indomitable spirit and yes, thanks for your service in our Marine Corps. Great shots of your garden and the life it nourishes. Great photos; great moments in time.
    Roadrunner in the fourth photo?
Keep on doing what you're doing.

Great photography! Love them all but particularly the black and white spider photo. Sounds like you're having fun and enjoying your psychedelic garden and Groucho Marx bird sanctuary. (Great names).

Hi Dennis, being of the same vintage as you, I love the way you're spending your
"golden years" although as Frank said, I think you're a bit young for that. Your garden is so creative and a great place to sit in the sun and enjoy capturing the wildlife around you. Thanks for helping to keep our country safe and for giving us this visual treat this morning. Peace

Linda, I'm also an avid gardener/Master Gardener on Whidbey. Would love to meet you, maybe at the Flower and Garden Show in Seattle? Not sure how to contact you outside of this forum. Ideas?

Hi Mariana, you can reach me at [email protected].
Maybe we can work toward a gathering st the NWFGS for all of the PNW gardeners. I believe many have already done this a few years ago but it was before I was on this blog. Hope to hear from you. Linda

Wow! Psychedelic just about sums it up. Love the colors and the birds and beasties are just gorgeous.

    Send us more!

From the cuckoo and the roadrunner, I am guessing Arizona. The photos are beautiful and the birds and insects obviously enjoy your efforts too. Great job. Enjoy.
