Today’s photos are from Nathan Turoff in Hoboken, New Jersey. Nathan says, “I just made my first visit to New Orleans, and spent an afternoon at Longue Vue, a Neo-Classical house with Moderne overtones (or a Moderne House with Neo-Classical overtones) built in the 1940s by a prominent New Orleans family. December isn’t a peak moment for the property–which has an extensive garden of native iris plants and what I’m told is a beautiful camellia garden–but there was still much to enjoy. For a life-long resident of the Northeast, the tropical feeling of New Orleans comes as quite a surprise, and the incredibly lush flora–which threatens to consume even the largest houses–gives the city an alien, almost surreal, feeling.”
