Today’s photos are from Jarmila Krajcovicova. She says, “I am sending some pictures of our garden surrounding our house in spring, autumn, and in winter looks. Me and my husband live in western Slovakia with Central European climate. Hot and dry in summer, low temperatures in winter and lots of snow. The garden has not been finished yet. The beds were without mulch in spring but today they are already covered and the bed edges are bordered.
“We decided to leave some fruit trees in the garden and we planted some evergreens, ornamental trees (Albizia), bushes (Cotinus coggygria, weigela, spirea, hydrangea, clematis), hardy perennials (peonies, iris, hostas, anemone, astilbe, arunculus) and bulbous plants (canna, tulipány, cala, hyacinth).”
Jarmila–you’ve made my day–it’s so exciting to see a garden in Slovakia! You have beautiful tulips, and your evergreens make sure that the garden is just as appealing in winter. Thanks so much for sharing.

Jarmila, my eyes couldn't help but linger over that glorious pink tree peony (?...I'm thinking that's what it is) in your first photo. Those blooms are positively decadent.
Since my part of the US hasn't gotten any of the white stuff yet, I also enjoyed your picturesque snow filled pictures.

I always enjoy seeing gardens and construction at far away places. Those plantings are spectacular, a very nice mix, and I especially like how all those conifers work with snow. The hand wrought iron work of those fences is practically a lost art. Of course maintaining those fences is a laborious job, constant scraping and painting. But today's reproductions of vinyl and plastic clad sheet metal don't compare.

Jarmila, I like the way you added the mums for fall color and the smoke tree there between the pine and juniper looks so nice. I'm not sure what the low bush is with the silver grey leaves but I like it. The peoni and Quince have such beautiful blooms and defiantly add that splash of color . It is amazing how the snow changes the whole look of the yard isn't it. Snowing here in Nevada today also. Beautiful! Be sure to send us pictures of the yard when it is finished. I'd love to see it. My yard is in the process of being built as well. It is so fun to see how it all comes together eventually. Thanks for sharing and Hope you have a wonderful new year.

Just wondering (a couple of days late...) what are you planning for the arched wire trellis? I'm really interested...thank you for sharing your photos...It is so great when Fine Gardening, gets pictures from around the world! If everyone loved gardening....we really would have nothing to fight about.

In spring I plated two clematis plants to the wire pergola. The pergola framework is lightweight so I chose clematis as a lightweight vining plant.One with tiny flowers and strong fragnance and the other with large showy wine-coloured flowers.
